If you're concerned about driving home or returning to your accommodation late after the movies, we’ve got you covered. At the iconic Mareeba Drive-In Theatre, you're welcome to stay the night and rest easy under the stars. It's a convenient and safe option for travellers passing through Mareeba, QLD, and offers a truly unforgettable experience—watch the stars on screen, then sleep under them.

Please note, overnight stays are only available on movie nights, and all visitors must depart by 9:00am the following morning.

Important Information About Free Camping

  • Gates open at 5:45pm, early access to the grounds is not permitted.

  • Campers must exit the grounds by 9:00am the next morning.

  • Facilities: Toilets are available, but there are no shower facilities.

  • Waste Policy: There is no rubbish service. All waste you bring must be taken with you, except for packaging from items purchased at the drive-in café, which can be placed in the provided bins.

  • Behavior: Visitors must be respectful of nearby residents, other customers, and the facilities to ensure this arrangement remains available for future guests.

Special Notes for Larger Vehicles

For caravans, motorhomes, buses, large vans, or rooftop tent setups:

  • A grassed parking area is designated at the back of the theatre for these vehicles.

  • Movie Sound: A car radio or portable radio is required to tune into the movie sound. Mobile phones or apps will not work.

  • Chairs can be brought closer to the screen if preferred.

  • Parking Rules:

    • Vehicles must be parked forward or reverse-facing the screen—sideways parking is not allowed.

    • Larger vehicles are not permitted to park among speaker poles and must remain in the designated back area.

  • Safety Rules:

    • Gas cookers, BBQs, fires, and generators are not allowed.
